New Orleans has been home to many jazz legends, and for over 8 years, Reid Poole has resonated through its historic streets. Originally hailing from Fountain, Colorado, Reid has seamlessly woven himself into the rich tapestry of New Orleans jazz culture.

Reid's versatility is unparalleled. While he masterfully leads Dinosaurchestra, The Hi-Fi Swingtet, The New Orleans Night Owls, and the Reid Poole Quintet, he also passionately collaborates as a sideman for myriad bands and projects. This chameleonic ability to adapt sees him harmonizing with iconic local acts like the Panorama Brass Band, The New Orleans Cottonmouth Kings, Trumpet Mafia, and many more.

Whether it's the raw emotion of the blues, the timeless notes of traditional New Orleans brass bands, or the intricate rhythms of bebop, Reid's proficiency knows no bounds.

A Nexus of Learning and Experience

Prior to immersing himself in the New Orleans scene, Reid's educational journey took him through the esteemed halls of the University of Northern Colorado and the Eastman School of Music. His qualifications? A bachelor's in Music Education and Jazz Performance, and a master's in Jazz and Contemporary Media. Notably, during his Eastman tenure, Reid took center stage with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, touring the US, Japan, and Canada. After this whirlwind experience and completing his master’s, the call of New Orleans proved irresistible.

Dedicated Educator

A fervent believer in knowledge sharing, Reid has been a beacon for aspiring musicians. He has educated the next generation at institutions such as the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra Music Program, the Louisiana Academy for Performing Arts, and Dillard University’s Music Industry Department. Through his private lesson studio, he has meticulously crafted lessons for eager students, guiding them through their musical journeys.

Reid’s vibrant energy echoes through iconic venues like the Spotted Cat Music Club, d.b.a., the Royal Frenchmen Hotel, and Snug Harbor. Every performance is a testament to his passion and dedication.

The Man Behind the Music

Beyond his musical endeavors, Reid cherishes his roles as a devoted husband and father. Moments spent with his two Pitbulls, embarking on biking adventures, savoring dances with his wife, and enjoying the camaraderie of friends and family are what fuel his soul.
